My wife has one of her favorite Bible verses written on a post-it note and attached to her computer monitor. It reads, “I will never leave you nor forsake you” (Heb. 13.5). It is a great verse that she uses to remind her that even when life is hard, God is still by her side.
How many Bible verses are there in the Bible? Would it surprise you to know that there are 31,101 verses in the Bible. If you break it down, you will find 21,145 verses in the Old Testament, and 7,957 verses in the New Testament.
Did you know that the original Bible did not have Bible verses? In fact, both chapters and verses were added so that you and I can find the verses of interest much easier. Have you ever wanted to know were to find certain verses, but just did not know where to look?
It is not uncommon for me to remember the wording or phrase that I read somewhere in the Bible, but I just cannot remember where it is found. With a good tool such as a Concordance, I can type in a word or phrase, and it will tell me the chapter and verse allowing me to right to it.
It is also helpful to know that know other related passages where that specific thought is found. For example, I can look up the phrase, “little faith” and discover that Jesus used this phrase four different times. I can look at the context and learn that there are four different reasons why someone might have weak faith.
There are a wide variety of subjects that they cover. In fact, there is a Bible verse for just about any situation, circumstance, and need that might arise.
